Empire Sunrise

The Empire Sunrise was a radical, prototype jet plane designed to break the sound barrier. It was destroyed by Jackie when he took it on a disastrous test flight for the army in 1947.

• The Empire Sunrise shares its name with a song on the official soundtrack album of Bear Stearns Bravo, as well as the album itself.

Speculation

• The Empire Sunrise seems to be based on the SS Empire Bruce, also known as 7459 GRT. More experimental aircraft was constructed, among them Empire Mist.
